Founded in 1986, La Gran Uruguaya was born from a desire to share the rich culinary heritage of Uruguay with the diverse community of New York City. What started as a small family bakery has evolved into a landmark destination for meat lovers and those seeking an authentic South American dining experience.

Our philosophy is simple: source the finest ingredients, honor traditional techniques, and treat every guest like family. At the heart of our restaurant is the Parrilla—our custom wood-fire grill—where our grill masters (Parrilleros) carefully tend to premium cuts of meat to achieve that unmistakable smoky flavor.
